Effect of Calibration for Tissue Differentiation Between Healthy and Neoplasm Lung Using Minimally Invasive Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy

This study proposes a calibration method and analyses the effect of this in lung measures, using minimally invasive electrical impedance spectroscopy with 3-electrode method, for tissue differentiation between healthy neoplasm tissue. Tissue measurements were performed 99 patients [54 15 neoplastic samples obtained] an indicated bronchoscopy. Statistically significant difference (P < 0.001) found bioimpedance parameters. The measures respect to measure bronchi reduces inter-patient dispersion, increasing sensitivity, decreasing specificity area below ROC curve three out four impedance-derived estimators. Results also show that there are no differences among smoker, non-smoker ex-smoker samples, which was initially stated as possible cause EIS measurement dispersion lungs.
